Today, I logged onto Facebook and did the cursory accepting of gifts and returning them for my various applications. Very unremarkable, but...
Facebook tends to sort my friends through their networking groups and I've never really paid attention to them before. Out of idle curiosity I decided to check out the list of networks. Leaping out of the page at me was a single entry for "UTS". The only UTS I could think of was University of Technology, Sydney. I don't remember having any Australian-made friends going to UTS, hence my curiosity started to build up: who on earth could this friend be? I looked at the name and stared. Excitement and happiness peaked. OMG it's a guy from Malaysia!!! It's one of my Malaysian friends! There's a Malaysian person I know that is currently existing near me!!
It's probably just me getting happy for nothing because I don't even know that guy very well, but the prospect of one of my M'sian friends existing NEAR me was just so exciting! Not that we're going to meet up or anything but it's just...WOW! So cool! *grins from ear to ear* Since most Malaysian people don't tend to move into Sydney, my hopes of having any M'sian friends near me had been pretty dim. Seeing this listing was like eating peppermint ice cream - refreshing, chilly (in a good way) and absolutely AWESOME.
And even though my reaction is slightly delayed (universities are already in their last terms) I feel extremely happy that the world is so small. It gives me the reassurance that I'll always be able to meet up with my good friends no matter how far away they may once seem. Here's to keeping the world small!
Cheers!
